Basketball Recap: Klahowya Takes a Loss

Klahowya played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Yamhill-Carlton Tigers 59-22. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 247th in Washington, while the Tigers are ranked 21st in Oregon).

Caroline Horan was Klahowya's leading scorer, having posted 12 points. Bailey O'Brien held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. Payton Wegleitner took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Klahowya's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Yamhill-Carlton, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Klahowya will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on East Jefferson [Port Townsend/Chimacum] at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Yamhill-Carlton, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sheridan at 7:30 p.m. Yamhill-Carlton's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Sheridan's offense will have their work cut out for them.
