Basketball Recap: Calvary Comes Up Short

On Monday, the Calvary Saints lost to the Triad Knights at home by a 65-46 margin. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Knights are ranked 43rd).

When it comes to explaining why Calvary lost, don't look at Luke Blackford. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-18 to rack up 25 points and three blocks. The match was Blackford's 20th in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Reese Huffman, who posted ten points.

Calvary's defeat dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Triad, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvary won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Warrensburg-Latham at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Warrensburg-Latham will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Calvary surely won't give up without a fight. As for Triad, they will face off against Jersey at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
