Volleyball Game Preview: Naugatuck Greyhounds vs. Seymour Wildcats

Naugatuck is 2-8 against Seymour since November of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Greyhounds will challenge the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Naugatuck is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, Naugatuck made easy work of Watertown and carried off a 3-0 victory.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Naugatuck was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-7, 25-8, 25-13.

Naugatuck can attribute much of their success to Melodye Hernandez, who had six aces, and Mariana Sales, who had three aces. That's the most aces Sales has posted since back in September.

They weren't the only good servers: Naugatuck was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matches.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Friday. Seymour was the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Wilby.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-14, 25-18.

Naugatuck's record is now 14-0. As for Seymour, their record now sits at 10-4.

Everything went Naugatuck's way against Seymour when the teams last played back in September, as Naugatuck made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greyhounds since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
