Baseball Recap: Lenoir City Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Lenoir City ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Rhea County Golden Eagles 4-3. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Steven Abercrombie looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Lenoir City is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 9-19 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isaac Dye, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since April 3rd. Another player making a difference was Zander Lovell, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base.

Lenoir City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Lenoir City's win bumped their record up to 13-20. As for Rhea County, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-23.

Looking ahead, Lenoir City will venture away from home to square off against Bearden at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rhea County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
