Football Game Preview: Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners vs. Coronado Cougars

The Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners will face off against the Coronado Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Southeast Career Tech is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Silverado to the tune of 48-6 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Roadrunners sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Leyla Randolph was her usual excellent self, throwing for 159 yards and five touchdowns while completing 93.3% of her passes, and also rushing for 35 yards. That's the most passing touchdowns she has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Averie Carothers, who picked up 75 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Southeast Career Tech's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Camila H and Leah McClain, who racked up five sacks between them.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Coronado took on Desert Pines on Thursday. Coronado blew past Desert Pines, posting a 53-6 win. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Southeast Career Tech has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.3 points per game. As for Coronado, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Southeast Career Tech came up short against Coronado in their previous matchup back in January, falling 18-14. Thankfully for Southeast Career Tech, Maci Joncich (who threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns while completing 90% of her passes, and also rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries) won't be suiting up this time.
