Softball Recap: East Ridge Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

East Ridge dropped their record down to 7-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 11-2 to the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders. The Raptors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 6-2.

As for Cretin-Derham Hall, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

For Cretin-Derham Hall's part, Brooke Nesdahl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. Nesdahl has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Camille Castro was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 4-for-5. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Yaeger, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Coming up, East Ridge will head out on the road to take on Woodbury at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Raptors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Cretin-Derham Hall, they will be playing at home against Mankato East at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
