Basketball Game Preview: Burbank Titans vs. Johnson Warriors

Burbank has gone 10-0 against Johnson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Burbank Titans will challenge the Johnson Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Burbank is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season.

Last Wednesday, Burbank really took it to Armijo for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-27 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-14.

Burbank's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cedric Sydnor, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards, and DJ Massey, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 15 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Sydnor has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Johnnie Williams was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points and three steals.

Burbank smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Johnson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against West Campus, falling 73-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Johnson has suffered against West Campus since May 25, 2021.

Burbank is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Johnson, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Everything came up roses for Burbank against Johnson in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 72-38 win. Does Burbank have another victory up their sleeve, or will Johnson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
