Basketball Recap: Clint Comes Up Short

Clint was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They fell 51-39 to the Ysleta Indians. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1611th, while the Indians are ranked 473rd).

Azaiah Thompson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds for Ysleta. The match was Thompson's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Herrera, who posted 13 points.

Clint's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Ysleta, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Clint Lions take on the Fabens Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clint is facing Fabens at the right time seeing as Fabens is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Ysleta, they will square off against Mountain View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ysleta will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
