Softball Recap: Atlantic City Takes a Loss

Atlantic City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cape May County Tech Hawks. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 13-3.

Kayla Barrie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and 12 unearned) runs on 13 hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nelly Sosa made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole four bases while going 3-for-5. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jojo Mejia, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Atlantic City's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Cape May County Tech, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Atlantic City will welcome Wildwood Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cape May County Tech, they will head out to face off against Bridgeton at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
