Softball Recap: St. Edward Victorious

St. Edward won the last time they faced Chicago Hope Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Green Wave walked away with a 7-4 win over Chicago Hope Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Green Wave.

Alaina Nolan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Sarah Gurley was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Sara Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

St. Edward now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Chicago Hope Academy, they dropped their record down to 9-13 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, St. Edward will head out to challenge Batavia at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chicago Hope Academy, they will host Aurora Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chicago Hope Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
