Softball Recap: Pelham Panthers vs. Helena Huskies

Pelham and Helena squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Pelham had to settle for second. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Helena Huskies. Pelham has struggled against Helena recently, as their game on Monday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

For Helena's part, they got a great performance from Marlee Parsons as she struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Tatum Cooper was incredible, going 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and a triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Lively, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Pelham's loss dropped their record down to 22-13. As for Helena, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 21 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 36-7 record this season.

Pelham will head out on the road to square off against Briarwood Christian on Tuesday. As for Helena, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Pelham at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Helena is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
