Basketball Recap: Liberal Takes a Loss

Liberal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Hays Indians and fell 67-30. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-34 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Liberal still got an impressive performance from James Fieser, who posted 16 points and five rebounds. Adrian Moreno-Gonzales was another key player, putting up five points.

Liberal's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Hays, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberal will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Garden City on February 25th. As for Hays, they will square off against McPherson on Monday. Hays has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
