Football Game Preview: St. Albans Bulldogs vs. Landon Bears

St. Albans is 0-9 against Landon since November of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Bears at 12:30 p.m. Landon took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Albans, who comes in off a win.

St. Albans' defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 42-0 victory over St. Stephen's & St. Agnes. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 40 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Will Martin, who rushed for 131 yards on only 12 carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. St. Albans also got help from Zahir Cobb, who showed off his sure hands for 92 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Albans was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 328 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

St. Albans' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Gabe Donoghue was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Landon after they claimed the first score on Saturday, but it was Bullis who ended up claiming the real prize. The Bears were just a hair shy of victory and fell 21-20 to the Bulldogs. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 6-0 in the first quarter.

The win made it two in a row for St. Albans and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 16 points in those games. As for Landon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

St. Albans came up short against Landon in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 36-29. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
