Baseball Recap: Welch Comes Up Short

After flying high against Foyil last Monday, Welch came back down to earth. The Welch Wildcats lost 14-6 to the Bluejacket Chieftains on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered against the Chieftains since April 22, 2022.

Khol Lynch made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Joseph Clinton also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Welch's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Bluejacket, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Welch Wildcats take on South Coffeyville Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bluejacket, they will take on Quapaw at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bluejacket is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
