Baseball Recap: Weir Takes a Loss

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Weir and John Marshall have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Saturday. The Red Riders came up short against the Monarchs, falling 10-4. The loss continues a trend for the Red Riders in their meetings with the Monarchs: they've now lost three in a row.

Weir saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick DiMatteis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Weir's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for John Marshall, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-11.

Coming up, Weir will square off against Beaver Local at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Beavers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.86 runs per game on average), something the Red Riders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for John Marshall, they will take on Wheeling Park at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The last five games the Patriots have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
