South Salem put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Mountainside Mavericks. The three-run effort marked the Saxons' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Ben Hennan looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, South Salem got a big performance out of Sawyer Nelson, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Buckingham, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

South Salem pushed their record up to 24-0 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Mountainside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.

Looking ahead, South Salem will challenge Grants Pass at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mountainside, they will face off against South Eugene at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
