Basketball Game Preview: Chardon Hilltoppers vs. West Geauga Wolverines

The Chardon Hilltoppers will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the West Geauga Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Chardon was fully in charge, breezing past Harvey 56-19. The Hilltoppers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 33 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Geauga). They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Geneva 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolverines have posted since January 29th.

Chardon is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points per game. As for West Geauga, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.

Chardon beat West Geauga 70-58 in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chardon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
