Baseball Recap: Homer Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Homer's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kodiak Bears on Friday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 1, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Weston Marley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Homer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Simms, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double was Simms' first of the season.

Homer's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Kodiak, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Homer is set to challenge their familiar foe Soldotna at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Kodiak will take on rival Houston at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
