Basketball Recap: Gateway Comes Up Short

Gateway played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Skyview Wolverines and fell 62-13. The Olympians haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Nevaeh Lucero continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Skyview, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten steals. With that strong performance, Lucero is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Yzabella Tafoya, who went 6 of 10 en route to 14 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Gateway's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Skyview, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Gateway will be playing in front of their home fans against Adams City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Skyview, they will venture away from home to face off against Pueblo East at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pueblo East is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season.
