Softball Recap: Washington Union Comes Up Short

Washington Union extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-14 in the process. They lost 14-4 to the Kerman Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on April 4th.

Zoe Freitas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

As for Kerman, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-6. Considering they have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Kerman's side, Eliza Garcia tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Garcia has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Vanenzya Enriquez was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Alvarez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Washington Union has already played their next contest, an 18-6 loss against Sierra Pacific on the 2nd. As for Kerman, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-2 defeat against Hanford West on the 2nd.
