Baseball Recap: Plattsburgh Find Success

After losing to Ticonderoga the last time they met, Plattsburgh decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hornets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sentinels on Thursday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted against the Sentinels since May 31, 2021.

Dan Hartmann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. Plattsburgh is 4-2 when Hartmann allows three or fewer earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Braeden Calkins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Nate Baker was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Plattsburgh now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Ticonderoga, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Looking ahead, Plattsburgh will head out on the road to take on Massena at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ticonderoga, they will host Galway at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
