Basketball Recap: Twin River Piles Up the Points Against Hampton

A well-balanced attack led Twin River over Hampton in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Twin River Titans blew the Hampton Hawks out of the water with a 50-15 final score. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Hampton's loss came despite strong showings from Sophia Schulze and Kiersten Mersch. Schulze posted a point in addition to 12 blocks and seven rebounds, while Mersch earned four points and 12 boards. Those 12 boards gave Mersch a new career-high. Macy Miller was another key player, putting up no points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks.

Twin River has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points over those games. As for Hampton, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Twin River and Hampton will both be playing Dorchester the next time they take the court. Twin River will head out to face Dorchester at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Hampton will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
