Basketball Game Preview: South Summit Wildcats vs. Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles

The South Summit Wildcats and the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

South Summit saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 57-36 margin over Juneau-Douglas. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Logan Woolstenhulme was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. The match was his 18th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Osguthorpe, who posted 11 points.

Capistrano Valley Christian's win came from a few key players South Summit will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Matthew Ahern, who went 11 of 17 on his way to 26 points and five assists. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Ahern, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds.

Capistrano Valley Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

South Summit's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Capistrano Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
