Baseball Recap: Briarcliff Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Briarcliff can now relate to. They fell just short of the Hastings Yellow Jackets by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Bears' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Lucas Martinez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Seim, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Briarcliff's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Hastings, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.

Briarcliff does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hastings, they will take on Putnam Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Yellow Jackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
