Volleyball Recap: Maryvale Takes a Loss

The Maryvale Panthers lost 3-0 to the Mesa Jackrabbits on Thursday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Maryvale ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-20.

Edwin Chavez paced Maryvale's offense, picking up five kills. Chavez were helped by Jhonthan Garcia and Fernando Vega, who contributed seven assists each. Chavez was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Maryvale now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Mesa, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Maryvale Panthers duke it out with Boulder Creek Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mesa, they will face off against Mica Mountain at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
