Softball Game Preview: Fairfax Lions vs. West Potomac Wolverines

Fairfax is 2-7 against West Potomac since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lions will welcome the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Tuesday, Fairfax didn't have quite enough to beat Robinson and fell 3-2.

Katelyn Huang was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

West Potomac had taken Alexandria City down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Wolverines came up short against the Titans, falling 15-5.

West Potomac saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Kay, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Another was Stella Weeks, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

West Potomac's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Fairfax, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

West Potomac's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Fairfax has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game.
