Softball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Allen County-Scottsville's Winning Streak

Allen County-Scottsville dropped their record down to 26-4 on Saturday, which also ended the team's 15-game streak of wins. They lost 13-2 to the Oldham County Colonels. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Patriots couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Oldham County, their record is now 23-5. Considering they have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Oldham County's part, Kailyn Claybern tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

On the hitting side, Oldham County let Kayla Cartledge and Jozie Lashley run wild. Cartledge went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Lashley went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Lashley has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Sydney Wirth, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Coming up, Allen County-Scottsville will head out to take on South Warren at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 3.7, the Spartans 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Oldham County, they will square off against Henry County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Colonels are on an 11-game streak of home wins, the Wildcats an eight-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
