Baseball Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

Franklin's last matchup with Independence could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Wednesday. The Admirals came up short against the Eagles, falling 8-0. The Admirals haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Franklin got a good showing from Barrett Smith, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those hits marked the first that Smith allowed this season.

Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Independence, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin will take on Hillsboro at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Burros will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Admirals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Independence, they will face off against Beech at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buccaneers have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
