Baseball Game Preview: Fillmore Flashes vs. Oak Park Eagles

Fillmore is 1-9 against Oak Park since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Fillmore Flashes will challenge the Oak Park Eagles at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fillmore has three straight wins, Oak Park has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Fillmore beat Carpinteria 5-2.

Santiago Avila made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Fillmore let Miguel Rincon and Joseph Alamillo run wild. Rincon scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Alamillo got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI. Rincon is becoming a predictor of Fillmore's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Thomas Alamillo also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Oak Park lost 14-2 to Royal on Monday. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Oak Park's loss dropped their record down to 3-3-1. As for Fillmore, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Fillmore suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Oak Park in their previous matchup back in February. Can Fillmore avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
