Basketball Game Preview: West Washington Senators vs. Lanesville Eagles

The West Washington Senators will head out to take on the Lanesville Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, West Washington didn't have quite enough to beat Perry Central and fell 45-43. While losing is never fun, the Senators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Commodores are ranked 142nd).

Meanwhile, Lanesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 73-51 to Clarksville.

West Washington will have to contain Nolyn Hall as he made an impact in Lanesville's last game. He went 8 of 13 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds. Hall continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nolin Pearce, who posted 11 points and five boards.

West Washington has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Lanesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Everything came up roses for West Washington against Lanesville in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 54-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Washington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
