Football Recap: Ridgevue Warhawks vs. Canyon Ridge Riverhawks
Ridgevue gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 35-18 victory over the Canyon Ridge Riverhawks. For the Warhawks, this counts as revenge for the 48-21 win the Riverhawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2023.
A big part of Ridgevue's victory came down to the chemistry between Dominic Zora and his top target Isaac Jones. Zora rushed for 52 yards and one TD while Jones picked up 147 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Zora also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making seven total tackles and defending two passes.

Ridgevue didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Cameron Johnson, Gavin Malvini, and Trace Farrell picked up one apiece. Farrell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Canyon Ridge still got an impressive performance from Ievin Ceballos, who rushed for 77 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 64 receiving yards and one score. Lorenzo Juarez was another key player, gaining 86 total yards and a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for Canyon Ridge and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgevue will take on Wood River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canyon Ridge, they will challenge Century at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
