Football Recap: Methacton Warriors vs. Perkiomen Valley Vikings
Methacton had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it six. They were dealt a 61-7 defeat at the hands of the Perkiomen Valley Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Vikings are ranked 74th).
As for Perkiomen Valley, they now have a winning record of 5-4. That looming 61-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.
Perkiomen Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Colin Sturges out in front who rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Sturges is becoming a predictor of the Vikings' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 3-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Jimmy Gambone was another key rusher, gaining 145 total yards and two touchdowns.
As of now, neither Methacton nor Perkiomen Valley have any future games scheduled.
