Softball Game Preview: McConnellsburg Spartans vs. Everett Warriors

McConnellsburg hasn't had much luck against Everett recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. McConnellsburg is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

McConnellsburg took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Berkeley Springs, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Indians on Wednesday, sneaking past 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since March 31st.

Meanwhile, Everett didn't have quite enough to beat Fannett Metal on Monday and fell 4-3.

McConnellsburg's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-10. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Everett, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-4.

McConnellsburg came up short against Everett in their previous matchup back in April, falling 15-11. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
