Football Game Preview: St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats vs. Alisal Trojans + Official Tickets

The St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats will face off against the Alisal Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Alisal took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Ignatius College Preparatory, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, St. Ignatius College Preparatory beat Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory 23-14. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caedon Afsharipour, who threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught one score. Those 167 passing yards gave Afsharipour a new career-high. Zui Shelton did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 102 receiving yards.

St. Ignatius College Preparatory didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ty Hicks. Another thorn in Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's side was Charlie Ball, who picked up a sack and made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Alisal didn't have quite enough to beat Salinas on Friday and fell 31-28. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Cowboys are ranked 108th).

Alisal has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
