Preview: Chopticon Braves vs. Calvert Cavaliers
The Chopticon Braves will head out on the road to take on the Calvert Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Chopticon's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.
Chopticon scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Northern 86-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Iverson Hill had a dynamite game for Chopticon, scoring 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hill has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Waddell, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Calvert's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 12th straight loss. Their tough 67-43 loss to Thomas Stone might stick with them for a while. Calvert has struggled against Thomas Stone recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Chopticon's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Calvert, their loss dropped their record down to 2-18.
Chopticon was able to grind out a solid win over Calvert when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 51-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chopticon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
