On Friday Joe Alvarez didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. The effort also marked the fewest earned runs (zero) Alvarez has had since back in March. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his third in a row with more than six strikeouts. For the year, he has an ERA of 3.83 over 38.3 innings pitched.
