Volleyball Recap: Halstead Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Halstead had already won seven in a row and they went ahead and made it eight on Monday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Smoky Valley Vikings. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 2-0 victory two weeks ago.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Halstead was: they took both sets by at least 14 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-10.

Katharine Engel paced Halstead's offense, picking up 13 kills. Engel got some help from Jordy Schroeder and her 18 assists. Bailey Bernal controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Halstead's win bumped their record up to 29-5. As for Smoky Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-22 record this season.

Coincidentally, Halstead and Smoky Valley will both be playing Southeast of Saline the next time they take the court. The Dragons will head out to face the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Vikings will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
