Volleyball Recap: Hazel Green Falls Short Against Ranked Hartselle

Hazel Green faced Hartselle in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Trojans took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Hazel Green was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-23.

Jessica Harbin paced Hazel Green's offense, picking up six kills. Harbin got some help from Lily Nelson and her 11 assists. Harbin was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Leading Hartselle to victory were Taylor Reaviel and Baylie Singleton. Reaviel had 12 digs and one assist, while Singleton had six digs and one assist.

Hazel Green has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 23-7 record this season. As for Hartselle, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-10.

Hazel Green didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Pelham on the 27th. As for Hartselle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Mountain Brook on the 27th.
