Basketball Recap: Pinecrest's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Pinecrest needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Kennedy Moore. The Pinecrest Patriots really took it to the Southern Lee Cavaliers for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-32 win thanks in part to Moore, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Pinecrest's points.

When it comes to explaining why Southern Lee lost on Friday, don't look at Makayla Hall. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Hall is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zamaria Mellette, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds.

The victory got Pinecrest back to even at 10-10. As for Southern Lee, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Pinecrest will be playing in front of their home fans against Lee County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southern Lee, they will host Hoke County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Lee is facing Hoke County at the right time seeing as Hoke County is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
