Preview: South Gallia Rebels vs. South Webster Jeeps

South Gallia has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the South Webster Jeeps at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully South Gallia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Wednesday.

South Gallia scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They blew past Glenwood 70-28 at home. That looming 70-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for South Gallia yet this season.

Morgan Lyons continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Lyons is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Macie Sanders was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and six steals.

Meanwhile, South Webster lost to Notre Dame at home by a decisive 47-31 margin on Monday. South Webster has not had much luck with Notre Dame recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite their loss, South Webster saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Skylar Zimmerman, who scored ten points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The matchup was Zimmerman's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Addi Claxon, who scored ten points.

South Gallia's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.27 points. As for South Webster, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Thursday's contest will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Lyons and Zimmerman. Lyons has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 20 points, 4.8 steals, and 10.2 rebounds. For her part, Zimmerman has averaged 19.8 points, 5 steals, and 2.8 assists.

Thursday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: South Gallia have been dynamite from deep this season, having only drained 34.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for South Webster, though, as they've only made 34.2% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
