Softball Recap: Barker Has No Trouble Against Medina

While Barker put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Medina. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Mustangs. Considering the Bulldogs have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Mady Flint made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Elise Monaco and Madelina Pavlock did most of the damage at the plate: Monaco got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Pavlock went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those four hits gave Pavlock a new career-high. Kaylee Stoll was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Barker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive games.

Barker has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Medina, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barker will face off against Alexander at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Medina, they will square off against Wilson at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Lakemen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.45 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
