Recap: Medicine Valley Raiders vs. Maxwell Wildcats

The Medicine Valley Raiders were the 60-44 winner over the Maxwell Wildcats when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Medicine Valley fell just short of Maxwell by a score of 55-52. Medicine Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Medicine Valley still got an impressive performance from Stella Heapy, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 46.2% of Medicine Valley's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kylie Rose was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Maxwell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kristyn Cheek led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Cheek is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Miller, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Medicine Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Maxwell, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-12.

Medicine Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Brady at 6:15 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Medicine Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday. Maxwell is on the road again on Monday and plays Hemingford at 5:00 p.m. on February 12th. Hemingford comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
