Terrell is a perfect 4-0 against Poteet since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Tigers will host the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Terrell is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
On Friday, Terrell blew past Crandall, posting a 63-13 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Terrell found their leader in sophomore JULIAN ASHLEY, who rushed for 120 yards and one score on only ten carries. RODERICK HAMBRICK JR. was another key player, rushing for 77 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.
Terrell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 365 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 248 rushing yards in six consecutive games.
Terrell's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. KEENAN MORROW was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself. Terrell received some extra help from ASA KOMISSAROV, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Poteet came up short against Ennis on Thursday and fell 29-22. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 479th, while the Lions are ranked 228th).
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Dylan Davis and WENDERIUS JONES. JONES had a great game and rushed for 154 yards and four TDs. Meanwhile, Davis was balling out in the loss, rushing for 121 yards and one score.
Poteet has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Terrell, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.
Thursday's contest might be decided on the ground. Terrell has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 353 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Poteet struggles in that department as they've been averaging 167.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Terrell took their win against Poteet in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 35-14 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
