League recap: Roesch throws longest pass in league this season for Byers

Jonathan Roesch and Jacob Imber provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Rocky Ford. The longest such play in 1A South Central this season, the connection resulted in 65 yards.

Limon extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Burlington, 35-14. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Byers's dynamic duo of Roesch and Chase Dean proved to be unstoppable against the Meloneers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Roesch threw for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns and Dean had 76 yards receiving.

Roesch put up the best numbers in passing as Byers topped Bart Rusler's team.

Gavin Liggett was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 221 yards on 8 carries as Limon defeated the Meloneers. Kerigan Kappel also contributed to the rushing game with 147 yards on the ground.

Noah Scott made the biggest impact on defense this week as Calhan topped Las Animas. The 6-foot-4 junior grabbed 2.0 sacks.

Liggett provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Mike O'Dwyer's team defeated the Cougars.

Dean was the best wideout in 1A South Central this week as the Bulldogs beat Rocky Ford.

Liggett was a force in the backfield as the Badgers topped Burlington.

Crowley County's Herman Ross and Ryan Haynes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Ross has thrown for 632 yards this season, while Haynes has 21 catches for 393 yards. Taylor Thoman from the Bulldogs leads the league in rushing with 478 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Limon takes on the Trojans. As it stands, the Badgers are in first, while Las Animas is in fourth.

Cody Hines' team lost to Calhan 42-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
