Softball Recap: Grant Triumphs

Grant posted their closest win since April 20, 2024 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Grace Christian Warriors 9-8. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Peyton Kirtland made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Carleigh Roe was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Saydie Willson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Grant and bumps their season record up to 11-7. As for Grace Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Looking ahead, Grant will head out on the road to take on Pineville at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Grant's pitchers better be ready for this one: Pineville has averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season. As for Grace Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Ouachita Christian at 3:00 p.m.
