Rancho Buena Vista moved up to 402 from 518 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Avocado - East. A 36-0 win over Vista helped the Longhorns improve their standing.
Rancho Buena Vista took down the Panthers 36-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Escondido's Mitch Bartram and JC Hernandez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Bartram has thrown for 320 yards this season, while Hernandez, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has eight catches for 239 yards. Daviante Sayles from Paul Gomes' team leads the league in rushing with 1164 yards.
There should be lots of points scored when the Longhorns and the Cougars face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Rancho Buena Vista comes in having scored 194 this season, while Escondido has scored 120. The Longhorns scored 36 points last week as they topped Vista.
