Basketball Recap: Dani Vanderwerff and Asia Vanderwerff Secure Win for Gregory

Gregory had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down the Scotland/Menno Trappers 40-21. This was payback for the Gorillas, who suffered a 47-41 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leading Gregory to victory were Asia Vanderwerff and Dani Vanderwerff. Asia shot 43% from the field to rack up 12 points and four steals, while Dani went 5-for-8 on her way to 11 points and three steals. Those four steals gave Asia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophee Skalla, who posted seven points.

Gregory's record is now 11-6. As for Scotland/Menno, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gregory will welcome Wagner at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Scotland/Menno, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Viborg/Hurley at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
