Baseball Game Preview: Midland Rebels vs. Abbeville Wildcats

The Midland Rebels will square off against the Abbeville Wildcats at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Midland is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since March 22nd on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Reeves 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rebels.

Karson Thibodeaux was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Abbeville took on Jeanerette on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 23-2 margin over the Tigers. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Braylon Himel, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Daniels, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Abbeville's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Midland, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Midland has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Abbeville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
