Baseball Game Preview: Ballard Beavers vs. Seattle Academy Cardinals

The Ballard Beavers will face off against the Seattle Academy Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Ballard 2.4, Seattle Academy 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Ballard took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let West Seattle get on the board and left with a 5-0 win.

Truitt Madonna made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Brady Miailovich was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Miles Soja, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Seattle Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Seattle Prep by a score of 8-7.

Eli Herst made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. William Hendry was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Ballard pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Seattle Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
