Baseball Recap: Maplewood Makes It Five in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Maplewood, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They blew past the Windham Bombers 12-6 on Wednesday. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Tyson Webster made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ethan Nelson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Shipman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Maplewood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Maplewood's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Windham, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Maplewood will square off against Garfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Windham, they will host St. John at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
